Dearborn Midwest cable-link conveyors are similar in load carrying capacities to any comparable chain conveyor. Cable-link systems are manufactured of standard components such as: monorails, supports, guards, drives, and carriers. While corner turns, drive wheels, cable and links differ from other types of conveyors, these parts are standard catalogue items and are available for immediate delivery from dealers, distributors or direct from the factory. Cable-link conveyors can be installed by your own factory maintenance personnel without special tools. You may even design your own system to fit your needs. Upon request, we will provide you our engineering catalog or we can provide design and installation assistance.

Dearborn Midwest has developed a cable link conveyor for applications requiring light-handling needs. This unique conveyor type is suitable for production or process that transport loads ranging up to 200 pounds.

DMWCC cable link conveyor offers versatility with systems engineered to permit rapid changes for operational requirements.

The conveyor chain is replaced by a high strength cable segments with special ends affixed to the power trolley brackets. Carrier spacing is based on trolley centers and with cable link conveyor, this distance can be a combination of various cable lengths. Therefore, if one, two or three or more cable lengths are used in the same system, the carrier spacing is equal to the sum of the individual power trolley centers. For example, three trolley centers of 8”, 12”, and 24” will give a 44” carrier center.

The 3-Inch Cable-link Monorail Conveyor is suitable for transporting loads ranging up to 500 pounds with a two trolley load bar arrangement or 250 lbs per load trolley.

7/16” diameter high strength cable segments have special ends affixed to power trolley brackets setting a standard trolley center distance of 8-inches. Wire rope of any specification can be used--for example: Stainless steel, galvanized, bronze, etc. Carrier spacing is based on trolley centers. With the 3-inch cable-link conveyor, this distance can be a combination of various cable lengths. One, two, three or more cable lengths can be used between the carrier’s spacing in the same system. The carrier spacing, therefore, is equal to the sum of the individual power trolley centers. For example, three trolley centers of 8”, 12”, and 24” will give a 44” carrier center. The trolley center distance, eight-inches in our 3-Inch Cable-link system represents the pitch of the pockets in the drive wheel.

2-Inch Power and Free Systems

DMWCC offers an ultra light complement to its lineup of overhead power and free systems. Our 2-inch system is designated “222 OHPF” which is taken from the part sizes that make up the system. The track is a quad channel configuration with both the power chain track and free trolley track using dual ((size)) channels (IPE 8, 80mm x 46 mm) positioned toe-to-toe. The power track houses the power chain trolleys and the free track supports and guides the free trolleys.

The dimensional drop from the top of the power track channels to the centerline of the chain is 8 1/2” (216 mm) normal bite. The 2-inch conveyor chain is designated X228 and is assembled from standard drop-forged rivetless links--2 inch nominal (5.0 cm) pitch. Two-inch Mono Trolleys are propelled through the free track and are free to engage and disengage the power chain’s pusher dog. Mono Trolleys are constructed from a solid one piece body with a simple lever type external operating mechanism that engages and disengages from the power chain.

222 OHPF systems provide an effective alternative and are ideally suited for light load and small part applications. Two-inch load carrying free trolleys can support approximately 110 lbs. (50 kg) in the monoplane. Just as our larger systems provide, the Mono Trolley can carrier heavier loads by combining them with load bars. In a monoplane system, a two trolley carrier with a load bar can suspended a part weight of up to 220 lbs. (100 kg).


3-Inch Power and Free Systems

DMWCC’s three-inch overhead power and free system (333 OHPF) consists of a powered chain track fabricated from a 3” I-beam (SI 3 IAS) yoked together with C3 @ 4.1 standard channel (SI UAS 3) free trolley track mounted toe-to-toe. The 3-inch conveyor chain is assembled from standard drop-forged rivetless X348 links--3 inch nominal (7.6 cm) pitch--supported by power trolleys that ride on the lower flange of the 3” I-beam power track. Three-inch Accu-Flo® free trolleys are propelled through the free track when engaged by the continuously moving chain pusher dog. They smoothly accumulate and can bank together under the control of carrier stop devices.

The designation “333 power-and-free” is derived from the part sizes that make up the track. Namely, a high carbon 3” (7.6 cm) I-beam powered track, a 3" (7.6 cm) nominal pitch chain, and a 3" (7.6 cm) high-carbon, dual-channel free trolley track. The industry standard dimensional drop from the top of the I-beam to the centerline of the chain is 9” (228.6 mm) normal bite track.

3" OHPF systems are ideally suited for light load and small part applications. Three inch load carrying free trolleys can support approximately 500 lbs. (230 kg) in the monoplane. Heavier loads can be carried by combining multiple trolleys with load bars. For example, a product is usually suspended from a load bar between two or more trolleys to carry loads as high as 1,000 lbs. (454 kg) in monoplane systems.

Like its larger siblings, the 3-inch OHPF system can be configured to handle changes in elevations using reverse-curve track. Free trolley capacity for slopes less than thirty degrees are capable of 330 pounds (150 kg) loads individually or up to 440 pounds (200 kg) in combination.

The power and free conveyor provides the ability to maintain system throughput while allowing localized interruptions of carrier movement. Carriers can be routed through robotic load and production stations, split and merged along alternative paths, buffered on the bias, travel through changes in elevation and handled by automation like transfers, vertical lifts and elevators. Power and Free conveyors offer reliable conveyance of parts, assemblies, and products from feeding conveyors through final assembly and shipping.
