Dearborn Mid-West Company awarded Honorable Mention Safety Achievement Award

In April 2016, Dearborn Mid-West Company (DMW) qualified for a Honorable Mention Safety Achievement Award in the 51,000 to 199,999 Hours-Worked category from the Construction Association of Michigan.

Even though several other companies boasted similar records in this category, it was DMW's low injury and illness rate combined with it's low EMR that earned the Honorable Mention distinction.

DMW's reduction of injury also contributes greatly to it's bottom line through reduced costs of recovering from a loss and reduces insurance premiums.

DMW Sponsors a Student Through the Corporate Work Study Program of Detroit Christo Rey High School

Detroit Cristo Rey High School is a coed Catholic high school. The school provides high-quality college preparatory education to youth who would not otherwise be able to afford private school education.

Sponsoring a student, which covers the balance of tuition remaining to be paid over and above the tuition payments made by families and income earned by Detroit Cristo Rey students through the Corporate Work Study Program.

The Cristo Rey Network® is a national association of high schools that provide quality, Catholic, college preparatory education to urban young people who live in communities with limited educational options. Most of our students qualify for the federal free or reduced lunch program. Member schools utilize a longer school day and year, academic assistance, and counseling to prepare students with a broad range of academic abilities for college. All students at Cristo Rey Network schools participate in a work study program through which they finance the majority of the cost of their education, gain real world job experience, grow in self-confidence, and realize the relevance of their education.

Detroit Cristo Rey High School will continue to sustain a co-ed, college prep, work-study high school for students who otherwise could not afford it. DCRHS offers a path to success for our students, hope for the future. Five days a month our students work outside the classroom, paying for two thirds of their tuition and receiving a real-world education in the bargain. The remaining tuition cost will be paid through a family contribution and fundraising.
