(Taylor, MI) Utilize mechanical engineering knowledge and experience to supervise and coordinate engineering projects, including design, calculations, studies and documentation for complex material handling systems and tooling cells. Conduct structural calculations to determine beam and column sizing, conveyor weight, point loading and kip loading, size cover plates, base plates and column pads and engineering calculations to determine cylinder sizing, shaft sizing and motor sizing. Document timing studies of automation, equipment, units, systems and conveyors. Determine structural member sizes for plates, bars and shapes and specify fastener and weld requirements. Manage and support chain pull (“CP”) activities, including manual method, CP-plus, drive balancing, CP review and analysis, and physical chain link pulls and analysis. Monitor Failure Mode Effect Analysis (“FMEA”) documentation to determine the effect of failures on Dearborn’s systems. Update and issue project documentation, including formal calculations, matrices and charts. Provide training to other Engineers, CAD operations and Design Engineers in department. Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related and two years of related mechanical project or design engineering experience for material handling systems and tooling cells required.
