Ford Motor Company’s Cuautitlan Stamping and Assembly Plant, located in Cuautitlan, Mexico, produces the Ford Mustang Mach-e. In operation since 1964, this large production and assembly site was in need of refurbishment. This refurbishment, specifically of the Final Assembly trim facility, was awarded to Dearborn Mid-West Company.
The facility’s total site footprint covers 207 acres. Dearborn Mid-West installed new conveyors and refurbished existing lines over approximately 600,000 square feet (about twice the area of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool).
Highlight products installed include:
- Extended trim skillet line
- Battery floor conveyor line
- IP line
- Vertical Drop Lifters (VDL)
- Shuttles
- Tire and wheel system
- Flex lifts
- Mezzanine
- Refurbishment and extension of existing door line
A unique and unexpected challenge presented itself when the battery floor conveyor line was installed: the battery increased the overall weight. This presented a collaborative opportunity for our team to problem solve while successfully meeting client expectations.
