A graduate of Central Michigan University, Todd's career trajectory was further shaped by his service in the United States Air Force and his apprenticeship through Millwright Local 1102. His commitment to lifelong learning led him to pursue an MBA from the University of Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business.

Todd's industry involvement is extensive. He has served as President of the Michigan Conveyor Manufacturers Association for six years, demonstrating his leadership in the industry. His roles on the Board of Directors of the Association of Union Constructors (TAUC) and as a Management Representative on the National Maintenance Agreement Policy Committee (NMAPC) highlight his commitment to shaping industry standards and policies. Additionally, his appointment to the State of Michigan Building Authority by Governor Whitmer underscores his influence and expertise.
